- The name Versailles comes from the world of the Sun Kings Court
- There's a hall of mirrors that is 250 feet long and in another time this was the room in which the Treaty of Versailles was signed. That was when WWI ended.
- The Hameau da la Reine ("Queen's Hamlet") was built in 1783 in request of Marie Antoinette
- The Queen's Hamlet was a working farm with orchards and fields that produced food for the Royal Family.
- The King's bedroom was created in 1701- it was a place for business, not sleep, though.

You found out some great facts about Versailles Lauren. Here's an interesting one for you...did you know that in the time of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette people didn't bathe or brush their teeth regularily. Royalty wore huge powered wigs and heavy clothing. It was said that the stench of Versailles could be smelled from two miles away. Gross! Can't wait to explore the whole place with you! --Laura
