  1. Great research on Monet Sophie! Did you know that Monet's wife, Camille, was the woman he used as a model in the majority of his paintings? And, even though Monet is very popular now, he wasn't very fashionable or popular as an artist when he was alive. "True" art critics didn't like the impressionist style so it was very hard at times for Monet and his impressionist friends to make a living because rich people didn't want to buy their paintings.
